Awesome affordable waterproof socks that fit better than these.

Fantastic waterproof socks at an affordable price that fit better than sealskin or shower coupon ones. I wear them almost every morning on two hour mud hikes in the woods. My feet stay warm and dry, which is especially important to me as I have Raynaud's phenomenon.

Pros
  • Large selection

They are excellent for dry conditions.

I use these socks for trail running and I completely dip these socks in creek crossings. My first pair ran out after a few (ie less than 6) uses. So I gave DexShell a second chance and bought a second pair. The second pair also started leaking after a few uses. They are not durable enough for my needs. They are probably good for less strenuous activities and protection from accidental water splashes on the foot.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • I'm pissed off

Well. These socks didn't fit me, but I still recommend them. I believe they should work for most people. I needed them to wear during a mountain bike race where we had to cross streams. We walked through the creeks pretty quickly. A few of my friends ordered the same socks and their feet stayed dry. My right sock leaked a little, but my left was fine. After I emailed the seller to complain, he promptly refunded me in full. I'm very happy with his/her speed and the realization that the socks…

I use them in the ocean

I do surveys that require me to dive into the surf. They don't completely protect from water, but I'd be honestly surprised if they did given the conditions I use them in. If I wanted to stay completely dry, I would need a dry suit or waders. They are often completely submerged and tossed about by the waves, and while the tip seal is effective, water can still get in. When that happens it actually helps keep my feet warm. I have used them both in summer and winter and they make my work easier.

Waterproof! on Active

Haven't field tested them yet but when they arrived I turned them over and filled them with water and they stayed dry for over an hour. Sure, it doesn't put the same pressure on the water as wearing it, but it's a good start. The insole wears like a 1mm neoprene boot, ie it stretches but is preformed and feels like a wetsuit on the foot. Increase the size for layering.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • I'm concerned about this

Can't recommend - runs out after 5 uses

These socks didn't leak for a short time, they were very good. Possibly 4 or 5 stars. Comfortable, relatively breathable. But after 5 uses river fishing with Merrell water boots one of them is noticeably leaking. As far as I can tell some of the sand and small pebbles that wash out of the shoes when walking the creek ripped at least a small hole in the sock. This leg begins to get wet almost immediately after diving. Bummer result from a promising topic.

Pros
  • Expensive, but decent
Cons
  • Everything ok

Didn't work for me in the Clothing category

I probably would have rated myself lower but the seller gave me a very good refund and I've heard good reviews from other friends who have bought them. I've taken them to two trail runs. One was less than an hour and the other about 2 1/2. On both occasions I ran across creeks so my feet were submerged but not high enough to put on socks. Both runs got my feet wet. Later I tried to put my hand in one of them and put it in a bowl of water to see what would happen. At first I had a dry hand. I…
