I hope I never see if it works.

You'll never know if these types of devices actually work until you need them, hopefully never. However, it is easy to install and there is almost no insertion loss for me. 5 stars for the peace of mind and hope it's not snake oil.

Pros
  • Pulse wave discharge: 1000V. Pulse wave discharge power: 6000A.
Cons
  • Crumpled

A necessary item for an external amateur radio antenna.

full metal construction which was a pleasant surprise. I thought the black part was the plastic outer shell. I buried an 8 foot ground rod and routed the wire. Let's hope he does what he's supposed to do and keeps lightning bolts out of my feed.

Bodyguard Equipment

I find this product to be easy to install and based on reviews online I am confident that it will provide excellent protection for both my HF and VHF/UHF gear. The product appears to be well made and sealed and the performance is impressive. Even though I haven't had to endure a single lightning strike since installation, I expect the highest level of protection. I screwed it to a copper plate that was attached directly to an 8 foot copper ground rod. I will definitely recommend and buy again.

Pros
  • These surge arresters are available in several coaxial connection schemes and in various RF ratings. They are designed to carry DC power, so you can install these arresters in series with external devices that require a coaxial DC power supply.
Cons
  • unreliable
