I have a small recording studio and wanted to listen to a music album on DVD in 5.1 surround format. I already have speakers and amplifiers and didn't want to invest in a full home theater system. This device does exactly what I need. It decodes the DVD player's digital audio output into six analog signals, which I then route to six powered speakers, that were at my fingertips. The device is incorrectly advertised as decoding from analog 2-channel to 5.1-channel. It has an emblem badge, it has "Dolby Pro Logic II" but it does NOT do that kind of analog decoding. Pro Logic II takes 2-channel audio like this box's AUX input and needs to convert it to surround sound.
