Check your components before filling in the board

Although the unremarkable components were marked on the board, it would be nice to have a schematic/instructions. After reassembling I plugged it in, LED2 is on but the coil does nothing. Ran all over the multimeter and confirmed that the 80NF70 is bad, which seems to be a common theme in other reviews of this product. I work in industry and know that the MOSFET isn't pulling and the solder/lead heating times and temperatures aren't above specs. So who knows why that's a bad thing. I'm going to

Great for enthusiasts and hobbyists

Assembles in six (6) steps shown as image. The documentation that comes with the kit can be difficult to read. If you encounter any problems, I would recommend asking a question here on the product page. The heatsinks get very hot, so be careful and it's highly recommended to connect a fan (suitable for your input voltage) to cool them down. a little down. Remember that a spinning fan competes for audibility, so you can determine how to achieve a _quiet_ fan. and a fun little project. Removedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Durable

Never worked for more than 10 seconds and then hardly ever. Not sure why it failed. There doesn't seem to be any troubleshooting guide or help for this product. Useless junk now adorns my rather odd electronic kit display. 24V power supply? For real? Most people just aren't going to sit around and do this. It needs to be redesigned to use the standard 12V DC and a more functional circuit that doesn't turn on all the lights indicating everything is working fine when it's not working at all. This

Pros
  • There's something in there
Cons
  • Almost never

Good entertainment for the price

It won't break you. This is a small Tesla coil. The arcs produced are only a few millimeters long, and when you plug it into a sound source the sound is very quiet (although loud enough that you can hear it clearly). This is not a topic for demonstrations. It's new, but if you just want a fun toy to build at home then this will serve you well. It works as well as one might expect, especially for the price. It was fun collecting them and playing with them every now and then. A few things to note

Pros
  • Crossing my fingers
Cons
  • A few bugs

Decent kit - may need some tinkering

Overall a decent kit. When it comes to assembling electronic components and troubleshooting I would say I'm an intermediate to advanced person and I think it's pretty neat. It's worth it for beginners. It definitely touches on a lot of electronics fundamentals. For example: you need to make sure you put in an electrolytic capacitor and the LEDs are pointing in the right direction - look for it. Since the LEDs are small, you need to be careful how hot you get the component when soldering so youโ€ฆ
