Overpromised and Underdelivered

Through trial and error, I found that this single board computer was almost impossible to set up properly. The documentation provided was confusing and unhelpful, and the interface was clunky and unintuitive. However, the board itself was reliable and fast once I managed to get it up and running.

Pros
  • Reliable and fast.
Cons
  • Confusing setup process and unhelpful documentation.

Nice addition to my 4B 8GB development Pi

I left this device in standard SPI mode, although I can reconfigure it for I2C to add some GPIO -Restore pins that will be used for other purposes, but I like that this OLED screen supports any addressing method. Modifying the example scripts wasn't difficult, although to prevent screen burn-in I added timeouts to re-blank the screen after that many seconds and a "trap" to re-blank when the script dies or the process terminates. A good product. Note that the glass is thin and will break if youโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Standard Raspberry Pi 40PIN GPIO, supports Raspberry Pi Series Boards, Jetson Nano
Cons
  • Periodicity

Difficult Setup on Raspberry Pi

This product worked well but I had some issues with setup. I had to get an old version from Rasbian, which didn't have a Linux 5 kernel, then lock the kernel package and update all other packages to make the vendor-supplied Python library work.Although the display is customizable, it's easy to program.

Pros
  • 2.23" HAT OLED Display for Raspberry Pi, 128x32 Pixels, SPI/I2C Interface
Cons
  • Functionality
