Should have bought Thetford

I bought this for my new caravan. Last time I bought Thetford so this time I chose Dometic. The flush valve seal began to leak about 6 months after a relatively short period of use (1 person). I finally decided to exchange the seal, only to find that it wasn't available for purchase. Instead I bought a Thetford 345 which is a bit bigger, has a lot more power and parts are easy to come by. Lesson learned.

Great portable toilet

I use this portable toilet in my RV and love it. It doesn't leak like other reviews suggest and I've just returned from a 2000 mile trip, it stayed waterproof the whole time, even while driving. When full, it weighs around 21.7 pounds, which is a comfortable weight to carry. My only recommendation is that when lifting the bottom half to empty the waste bin, make sure the vent and dampener are fully closed to prevent liquid from escaping.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not sure

Compared to our previous Dometic 960 series toilet, this Dometic 970 series has some advantages and some shortcomings. 960 Series: Dometic 301096606 Portable Toilet On our week long trip to Lake Powell the family loved the pump mechanism that pumps water. The water is released via a button on the front panel. We found that you had to pressurize the tank quite a bit depending on the amount of water in the top unit. The pumping mechanism is louder than the 960 series bellows pump, which is why…

Dometic and Camco - Toilets

Buy Dometic to replace my Camco. I have just received it. When I compare them I see a big difference in their sizes. Both have 5 liters. I find the Dometic too small, both in terms of height and lid diameter. I read a review that said the dimensions of the lid are the same as a regular toilet, but that's not the case. The construction of the Dometic seems much weaker than the Camco, even the lever is made of plastic compared to the Camco which has a metal lever. It literally looks like a…

Arrived with broken lid, Dometic not responding

I really wanted to like this toilet but it has many flaws. The main thing is that it came with a broken lid. I wanted to keep it so I contacted Dometic to see if they offer a replacement. However, they didn't reply or take care of the issue. I contacted them several times through their website and never received a reply. They obviously don't care about customer service. I returned it to Revain after having bad luck with Dometic. It is made of cheap, brittle and thin plastic. It looks like it…

Only suitable for babies

This item is small. No life-size adult can sit on it comfortably. It's like doing your job with a thimble. I was so disappointed. Before deciding to give up my black tank/conventional RV toilet, I bought the cheapest Camco model as an experiment to see how it would perform without a conventional RV toilet. I really enjoyed not having to deal with the hassle of finding a landfill, waiting for other vans, and dealing with smelly, tight-fitting bodywork. Camco fitted, but I wanted something bigger

Pros
  • Bathtub
Cons
  • Disadvantages

.If you think this toilet sucks you are dead wrong and I don't want to go camping with you. Firstly I can't sit on it with all my manly parts like I would on a regular toilet, that is doing #1 and then adjusting #2, if you need to do both at the same time you better start now practice! oh how awful that can be! First, the exit tube isn't fully in the corner and it creates a little pocket for poop and tissue to collect and get stuck there when you try to empty and you start wanting to shake that
