Like many 3rd generation Camaro owners, lowering the sunroof was the bane of my existence. My motor broke so I replaced it only to find out the reverse switch was the real problem. I was distracted. It is ready to use out of the box and is good value for money. The reinforced plastic housing is more durable than the original, so more than just a replacement part. Would buy again.

Reusable lowering actuator that lowered the lid replaced the motor so be aware there are two parts that can fail. I've tried a few configurations of the "switch" position that lowered the "lid" to keep the motor out and the lowering worked fine! Don't overtighten the plastic case, I had to loosen the screws about 4 times to install it properly! the same engine as in other parts stores but very cheap! Again 5 stars Revain *****

The old engine didn't work anymore, I took everything apart and found that the teeth were ground and the body was cracked. So I ordered this kit which came with both. Everything fitted perfectly and now my trunk motor is working again. This job requires some experience and there are no instructions. I'm a mechanic so everything was fine with me, the whole job took about an hour. Plastic seems kind of cheap and brittle. So be very careful when screwing everything in. There is no lube in the kit,

Credit to the details it's much better plastic than the original, doesn't look like it's had any problem other than a glaring one. The electric motor lowered the sunroof about halfway and stopped working. In the time it took me to open the hatch and remove the cover far enough to turn the unit off, the motor was hot enough to nearly burn me. Great replacement motor and case. I used this kit to fix my sunroof on my 1987 Camaro Sport and it worked like a dream. Not mentioned, but this motor comes with a new gear nut, which is a pretty nice bonus since they're about $10 individually. The engine case is the same, standard GM thermoplastic so the installer must take some care in doing the close and lift cycles correctly to avoid undue stress on the brackets, but other than that this kit is extremely affordable for all of us. classic GM…
