Dorman 76870 Headlight Switch Knob Review

Arrived very quickly, three days after ordering. As other reviewers have pointed out, it's undersized for a 2002 Ranger, but stays on the light switch and works, just doesn't fit quite like the original.

It's a bit small for my 2006 Ford Ranger but not by much. I was able to get it working sufficiently, but it was very difficult and didn't last to the end. it's far enough away to feel safe and work, but I don't know how it will work over time.

The knob looked great but worked horribly. The internal clip that secures the grip to the metal switch post was made of thin metal. Doesn't live up to the post and there was a lot of bungling from the start. After turning the light off and on several times, the handle stopped working and just rotated. Would not recommend buying.

Some reviewers commented that this knob was too tight on the 2006 Ranger. The grip I received slipped right in (I hope it doesn't get too loose). FYI, this pen is exactly the same as the O'Reilly & AutoZone but a few bucks cheaper than the auto parts retailers. So I gave the Revain pen a try. and it seems to have worked for my 2006 ranger sport. Hope this helps other potential buyers.

I have a 2006 Ford Ranger XLT, this part came quickly and fits perfectly. The price was very reasonable compared to auto parts chain stores I paid $7.14 with prime shipping but I noticed it was $10.65 when I clicked the buy button again , which was still lower than auto parts stores. This is the second replacement for this node since the 2006 Ranger was purchased in 2010. This part is probably meant to last 3-5 years but could be longer if your truck is rarely used. In general very satisfied.

We shouldn't have put off replacing the headlight switch. After my husband tried an old Vicegrip on a bare metal shaft trick and "someone" knocked the "grip" off in the dark, I took matters into my own hands and ordered a REAL pen from Revain. It arrived well packaged and it was easy for me to install (yes it was STILL a hesitation). Just make sure the flat side aligns with the metal stem of the switch and press down. does NOT fall!
