Not Worth the Purchase: Faulty Valve

After trying this automotive part, I found that it didn't function as advertised. The valve wasn't compatible with my car's system, resulting in issues with the emissions. The only good thing about this product was the affordable price. However, the hassle of having to return it overshadowed that. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this replacement part to anyone.

Pros
  • Affordably Priced
Cons
  • Faulty Valve, Incompatible

This part worked as intended

I used this Dorman 911-105 Vapor Tank Vent Valve on my wife's 2008 Ford Explorer (Eddie Bauer 4.0 V-6). She got an engine check code which the parts dealer said was caused by a problem with that valve. The swap was a bit of a hassle (just because the Brain Trust at Ford decided to hide it), but not too difficult. After replacing this part I was able to clear the engine code and it didn't come back. So I would recommend this part to anyone, but hope I don't have to replace it again anytime soon.

Pros
  • Great value - OE function at a lower cost
Cons
  • There are cons

The valve only worked for half an hour, after which the check engine light came on again. I spent another week troubleshooting the system and spent another $50 on a smoke test to find out the valve I just bought was defective. When I took out the "new" valve, it fell apart in my hand. From the outside it looked like new but inside everything was corroded and the valve wouldn't move when powered. The part is cheaply made from "made in China" parts. Your best bet is to purchase the part from your
