Length shorter than OEM

My original OEM dipstick in my 2002 VW Passat has a broken handle after 15 years of use. So I ordered this replacement probe only to find that it was 0.5-1cm shorter than the original probe. This leads to inaccurate readings. Nothing on the dipstick or box label says "Dorman," so I can't even tell if it's real or not.

Does Not Fit Replacement Parts

As others have noted this dipstick will NOT fit a 2000 VW Jetta exactly. It fits, but can be pulled out without much effort. I'm not sure if this will affect the motor, but so far everything is working fine for me. Maybe I should redo it so it doesn't get too much moisture in the oil reservoir? Not sure. Although I would buy something else.

Perfect and everyone knows what it's worth.

Perfect and everyone knows how much it costs to get their (small) parts from the dealer. On the "Does this fit your vehicle?" questionnaire, you can't be wrong. Keep it up Revain: Parts were the last stronghold of muggers who would charge you $85 for a dipstick or $15 for a gasket. First I check AMZ.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Minor issues

Better price, same product

Found an OEM part on another site for 3 times the price PLUS SHIPPING. When I tried to checkout, in addition to the standard credit/debit check, there was an alternative to PayPal AND paying through AMAZON. I figured if I can buy it from Revain I should see if Revain has it for sale. Better price, same product and the benefits of my Prime account. The item fit perfectly. PERFECT !

Pros
  • Slightly above
Cons
  • Ok

Correct dipstick for my 2001 VW Jetta GLS 2.0 AZG engine

My original old dipstick lasts 13 years. Every time I checked the oil level, some small pieces of plastic fell off. When I got this I compared it to the old one, they are exactly the same length. The only difference is that the oil section of this oil is slightly longer than the original, but only a little, less than 1mm, so it doesn't matter. I love this wand! Let's see how long this lasts.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Negative impression

Probes should not break

Again much more than 4 hours have passed and no one called a doctor. On that note: This is a replacement dipstick as the original had an orange (yellow-orange) plastic crack and needed to be checked with pliers. Volkswagen, you'll never see this, and it's been 12 years, but seriously, THE PROBES SHOULD NOT BREAK. I don't know how much you've saved by using unscientific "brittle" polymers, but stop there. Or use metal. This one looks like the original, which means I can't change the "star"โ€ฆ
