🔍 Dorman 917-724 Engine Camshaft Position Sensor for Various Compatible Models Review

took 8 minutes to plug in plus 4 minutes to disconnect battery, clear system load, reconnect battery. My 2005 PT Cruiser started right up and ran better than before the problem. Now he has a better pickup, so it must have been like that for a while.

Works great, very easy to install in my wife's car, saved her from having problems with periodic wheezing. It was only installed a few days so I'm not sure if it will last as long as the original (130,000 miles) but if it lasts half as long as the Chrysler original that would be good.

The engine ran VERY hard for months before my CEL finally gave out this code. I had terrible gas mileage the whole time. If you find this and the code is not there, do not wait, replace the camshaft position sensor. on the driver's side - the replacement takes a few minutes. Simply unscrew/two screws/swap. I guess it comes with a new gasket so that was nice. Do not wait!

I have had a long history of problems with the camshaft position sensor, which would sometimes beep on my 2005 Dodge Caravan 4 cylinder engine. Another non-original sensor lasted a while, then I put the original sensor in (after replacing the spark plugs that can interfere with the signal of this sensor!). Just installed yesterday but so far so good. The Check Engine light is now off and the engine runs better. It's literally a 10 minute install job on a PT Cruiser, so feel free to do it yourself. On the PT, remove the clamps at the top of the airbox, remove the hose to give some more clearance, and loosen the two screws that hold the sensor in place.
