Great for differential, trans breathers on your 4WD vehicle

I had 4 of these, one each for the front and rear differential, transmission and transfer case. On a suction/blast test, they bleed air quickly but don't close completely when sucked, which is actually a good thing because keeping the diffs under vacuum can actually suck water and dirt through the seals when they are submerged in water . Fits 3/8 pipe is a little loose so you'll probably need a hose clamp or just use zip ties.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Moved breather cap guard

Blown a rear seal here in Houston after Storm Harvey. Because the vent was clogged with dirty water. Toyota places this bleeder screw directly on top of the rear differential. Not too high especially if you are walking on water. The pressure builds up and the seal bursts. I picked mine up pretty cheap near the fuel door on my 2002 4Runner. No need to buy expensive units. Less than 25.00 for breather, extension tip and fuel line hose.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Little repairability

Used to modify differential venting.

. I used a Toyota coupler along with some 3/8" fuel lines and hose clamps so I could move the diff vent away from any possible water, dirt or debris getting into the diff. In general I am satisfied with this product. I was able to find it cheaper at my local auto parts store but they should have ordered it from their store while theirs had it shipped right to my door.

Pros
  • . High test scores for support and durability.
Cons
  • . Not bad.

PERFECT FIT 2000 TACOMA

Ideal for 2000 Tacoma If unfamiliar, follow the hose over the front diff. It will be on the frame cross member just below the oil pan. Move to a higher, drier spot in the engine compartment. So does the rear diff. You will need a nipple to thread it into the rear diff vent and a 5/16 fuel hose that goes to the taillight. The old front vent was clogged and blew the axle/diff seal, replace it and the leak will slow down, hopefully it will stop like others do, but if your front diff is leaking itโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • unreliable

Not made of strong materials, better to install in a sheltered location

This is a very simple vent made from materials that don't appear very strong. If you're using it to replace an axle mounted axle breather, it looks like it won't hold up to the elements and will likely clog very quickly or the cover will corrode immediately. However, if you're using this for increased ventilation modification, and running the ventilation line to a protected area well above the case, that ventilation should suffice. I used this to replace a poorly designed bolt in the axle ventโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Operating speed

Works as expected, fits a little loose.

The vent cover works as it should, but a small clamp had to be used as the serrated insert was a bit loose. Designed for use with 3/8" ID fuel line. Before installing, I blew on the barbed end (which was meant to go into the hose to mimic) and it let the air out. When sucking, the umbrella resonates with the Cap closes This is supposed to happen. Extended an existing transmission breather hose on my Chevy Tahoe. There are many YouTube videos on this simple mod. The stock breather hose, with noโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are new competitors
