replaces 'Subaru 14 metric' with this 17 metric

Original Subaru Crosstrek 14mm oil drain plug with hex head removed. replaced by this 17 mm. I think a bigger hex head is better.

Fits exactly like OEM in Engine Parts

Drain Plug Use on 2017 Subaru Impreza. However, I am not using the gasket that came with the screw. I use Dorman's 095-159 gasket instead. Tightened to 29 ft-lbs, I have no leaks.

Pros
  • Engines and Engine Parts
Cons
  • Almost Never

Worked on my Subaru Impreza 2017

Large screw head makes it easy to remove. I quickly had 2 other strips even when tightening the screw to the specified measurement. This is the size Subaru should have started with.

Cons

Will not fit 1992 Intruder.

Ordered for a 1992 Suzuki Intruder VS800. Checked the fit and had to fit my bike, absolutely NOT a good fit for this bike. I had to wait two weeks for the right plug from another site.

Pros
  • Oil Drain Plugs
Cons
  • Small Items

17 mm thicker for modern Subaru.

Modern Subaru have a less durable 14mm hex drain plug that too often breaks off after being overtightened. It's a good idea to replace the same with this old style 17mm hex. The threads are a little flimsy so don't use a shim to ensure a good hook.

Pros
  • Replacement Parts
Cons
  • So far so good
