Looks like it broke at some point and they just glued the pieces together. And it smells like an ashtray. It probably works fine, but it smelled so bad I didn't even bother to wash and use it.

Excellent press. Well built and strong. I especially like the soft feel and the fact that it's dishwasher safe. The ones with plastic handles feel fragile and the last thing you need is a broken potato masher. It's like my mother's, but better. No wooden handle to collect water and bacteria and get nasty. Great grinder at a great price.

This is a good product. It's solidly built. It's ergonomic and comfortable (I have medium sized hands). Fits perfectly in my kitchen drawer. I'm not using this for mashing as intended, although I believe it will work. I only use it to make guacamole. Whenever I have parties, I make a giant tub of guacamole (usually with 15-20 large avocados, 2 yellow onions, 10 jalapenos, 2 crushed garlic cloves, 4 rum tomatoes, and some salt).
