Necessary tool! on Sewing Notions & Supplies

Unfortunately I use Ripper A LOT! I need a few pieces spread across all sewing areas and they need to be comfortable to hold (not small) and sharp AND since I need so many they need to be inexpensive. This is a trademark. Dritz has been around since the invention of sewing and will continue to be. Nothing fantastic. Just a nice solid tool for those of us who are bug prone.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Expensive

The cap doesn't fit the back

I didn't notice the cap didn't fit on the handle making it difficult to use as I have to remember where I put the cap , if I use them too, don't just glue them to the back of the handle. Otherwise they are sharp enough and work well, but next time I'll buy smaller ones with built in cap storage. They are seam rippers, what can I say.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Nothing here

I'm not a dressmaker, but I comb my hair quite often.

SAVE TIME! I didn't buy it for the usual reasons. I needed this because all the hairs snagging around my vacuum's brush roller are rendering them useless. the end. Now I can just run the seam ripper around the edge of the roller until everything is intact. So much. More quickly! :D

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Appearance

I'm helping out on a school band uniform and this ripper is the best for removing old changes. Be careful, it's VERY sharp so be careful or you could end up making a hole in your craft (or your hand). ;-p I bought this one after using it at school and it's a lot better than my other seam ripper I've only had for a few years. This will be my new seam opener. Hello Dritz!

Well done.: Ripper

To be honest I have no idea about seeding technology. I don't know if an experienced seamstress or someone you call a sow would consider these good looking pullers or not. Although for my purpose. They worked great. I had to modify the leather case for my rifle which involved cutting a few threads. This ripper made my job easier. They cut through thread like a hot knife through butter, and the threads used for leather are quite thick compared to regular thread.

Necessary! Best in Seam Ripper

I'm new to sewerage and have been told I need this for any mistakes I make. Yes, yes, indeed, I have. It seemed awkward at first, but after practicing and getting comfortable, I immediately started ripping the seams left and right. Not realizing to fools like me that you use the pointed end to trim individual threads as needed, but you actually lay the blunt end on the ground and the U-piece does all the trimming of the seams. The sharp end at the bottom will rip the fabric! The red knob…

  • Great for outdoor activities

The blade is best blunt in Sewing supplies and accessories

Not thrilled with this seam ripper. It's not very sharp and pulled the fabric threads on my satin weave, so I bought a new seam ripper. My old one was too blunt to cut the threads without pulling out the satin fibers. Also, I'm not happy with the size. It's a lot bigger than my old one and there's really no need for extra bulk (imo). I will save it as a backup and not send it back, but I have already bought a new one. Also, the plastic cover doesn't fit and stay put. I solved this problem by…

Stealth Seam Ripper to the rescue!

Pretty simple stuff. I needed a tool that was strong, thin and sharp to remove (which seemed like a million to me) tiny stitches from manufacturing defects on the bedspread. This seam ripper did a fantastic job of isolating very tightly sewn single strands and cutting them quickly without stressing the tool. It didn't affect any of the other seams that were supposed to be left intact (sigh, reading glasses helped too). Still sharp! I think it's one of those little tools that everyone in the…
