Attention quilters! - Sewing Tools

This product will stain your fabric! Colors, even white ones, do not fade even after repeated washing and washing.

Love this pen!: Marking and tracing tools

I am very happy with this tool! The fabric is easy to load, use and label. My only issue is that I wish the chalk was thicker. I like the case and how it holds extra crayons. I had no trouble dying the fabric with any colors. I am very happy that I found this piece.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Outdoor

Quilters Beware Sewing Tools

I was so excited to get some chalk and wanted a little tip to mark my patchwork projects. So unfortunate because the chalk stains and I even used a soft cloth with lukewarm water and dish soap at dawn so it was still there. This WAS a special gift, now the dog can have a king size blanket.

Pros
  • I'm Looking Forward to
Cons
  • Something Different

Ideal for marking stitch designs on fabric

This is great. I hand out a patchwork quilt and use it to sketch the embroidery design. I've used chalk pencils in the past and found that they break easily and don't stay sharp enough for detailed work. These wash off easily. I bought two more and gave them to friends.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • None

Didn't wash out after 2 cycles

Chalk worked well when carefully poured into the cartridge. I used green chalk to outline the quilt on the brown printed fabric and even after 2 washes you can still see most of the lines! So I was disappointed that it didn't wash off right away as that's the only reason I chose chalk.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Interval

Cartridges that do their job well.

A good set of cartridges but they break easily. So you have to be careful with them. I have a problem adding new chalk to the included pen jig so I just use them separately. They mark well and the marks are easy to remove from the material. If you don't mind holding the chalk in your fingers while marking, then this set is worth buying.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Slightly creased

Not bad for marking and tracing tools

The chalk is nice, although a bit soft to the touch and leaves big marks even when I don't press hard. It has good visibility and the color choices are nice. The little crayon storage box isn't very useful though - it doesn't snap or even close securely. Instead, the lid simply sits on the tray. Also, the sharpener is quite difficult to use. Finally, I would really like to buy more of the "pencil" case. I would be happy if I didn't have to change the crayon every time I changed colors.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive

DO NOT BUY -- Chalk won't come off -- Ruined my sewing project

I sewed cotton clothing and drew ruffle lines -- As I sewed, I noticed the chalk was sticking through the fabric at the top of the dress. There is an eraser on the end of this marker pen so I figured I just needed to erase the marker. Did not work. I tried the Resolve stain remover and washed - it didn't wash off. I tried bleaching with a cotton swab at the risk of discolouring the fabric. The rails didn't come off. So I put all this time and money into making dresses that are ruined becauseโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Builds confidence
Cons
  • Out of style

No more chaos! good for sewing

Using tailor's chalk can mess up and make it difficult to keep sharp edges/lines on your markings. I stumbled across this while looking for an alternative to the regular chalk square and decided to give it a try. Oh God! Doesn't matter! Even though I used a "holder" for my chalk squares, I always felt like the chalk was on my fingers, which then rubbed off the part of my clothing I didn't want. So I found that every time I used the chalk square I had to interrupt the process of making/alteringโ€ฆ
