Ideal for Electra Beach Cruiser

Cable long enough to fit Electra Cruiser. Perfect fit for Shimano Nexus rear derailleur. You'll have to trim the cable and case, but this works great.

Pros
  • Ideal for small homes
Cons
  • Speed

This is a true shifter housing with the inner cables routed lengthwise

To be honest I was only expecting PVC hoses, but there's plenty of that on the shifter housing. It has a length of cable routing and an inner tube for the wires to run through. I have a 1x8 so it only takes 1 cable but you get 2 and a lot of casing.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some bugs

Pretty Shifty - Sports

These components have been proven on the Trek hybrid to restore shifting ability. To get the job done, there were enough cables and cases. Lots of details to make it work as intended. I'm looking forward to the bike getting back on the road. Maybe I should have bought a kit that includes brake cables?

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Ok

Find out what you are doing before installing new shifter cables!

The product is simply excellent, the kit contains everything you need to replace the derailleur cables. Beyond know-how! I am writing this to prepare others who are stupid like me. I started tearing up the left 3rd switch assembly when... the spring! Feathers and small parts everywhere! Upon closer inspection I see that there is a rubber plug that needs to be removed and then a cable fed through. (I ended up buying a new set of switches, left and right).

Pros
  • A good product for its price
Cons
  • There are nuances

Make sure you measure what you need to make sure it's enough.

I used this to replace the rear derailleur cable on an Electra Townie. There was about 1.5 feet of fuselage left and the shifter cable was barely enough. Make sure you measure the length you need to ensure this kit actually fits your needs. What you see in my picture is how much extra cable length I had, and I had to remove about 5 inches of casing that I'd rather leave around the handlebars to get that much.

Pros
  • Handy part
Cons
  • Functionality

Newbie @ Bike Repairs

My shift cable on my giant hybrid bike has exploded - the cable sheath on the twist shift knob has fallen apart. I just watched a video on YouTube and figured out what type of shifter cable I should buy. This was a better quality rolled type, not the cheaper one-piece version. The product was perfect, easy to cut and adjust. I didn't have expensive wire cutters so I used my dremel to cut the outer case and then used a sanding attachment to sand down the bushing. I have a pair of regular wire…

Pros
  • This is awesome
Cons
  • There's nothing here
