The best thing about this everyday backpack is its pack size. It folds up into a very small space when packing for a trip, as we traveled to Europe last fall where space in our suitcases was at a premium. I purchased this backpack for hiking on a recent trip to Arches National Park in Utah. It worked great. The backpack was light, well built and small enough to pack in a suitcase for air travel and worked great for hiking. It was big enough to hold a sweatshirt, snacks or lunch, and a large water bottle. Update 7/27/18 - Just got back from honeymoon and a bit upset/disappointed with this purchase. It was great for about 3 days then a strap came loose and we couldn't put it back in. We ended up optimizing it since we were in central Italy near our hotel. Another belt broke after 3 days (same scenario). Everything about these bags needs to be seen in context. They really are meant to be folded as a key feature of the bag and that requires a lot of different compromises. So. It actually packs into a small pocket - it uses the front small pocket as a storage pocket. This is a SMALL bag so check the measurements.
