The back of the earrings is perfect. It is such a luxury to know that if the back of an earring is lost, there is a good supply available. They work great and it's nice to know the earring is secure. I should have given the other reviewers more weight - they are SMALL! It seems there are way more than 500 pieces but you won't catch me for these little things - Ha! Ha! I'll just take her word for it! I bought these to wear on the back of my regular earrings as a 'cushion', a spare (on some) and/or a 'stud'. They work well for this purpose as they are very secure.
