Winter saver on pipe heating cable

13 degrees and no problem. I bought 12ft and buried 5ft underground. Not recommended by the manufacturer. I continued the insulation underground and removed the wire from the insulation from the pipe to keep it from overheating. It has been raining and freezing, no complaints so far.

Pros
  • That's amazing
Cons
  • High price

Worked well but not isolating!

I wrapped this heating tape around the RV's water hose, and then wrapped insulation around it as instructed in the RV. It might be below zero here so I figured it wouldn't be overkill and they would know what they were doing. The heating tape melted my hose! I attached the hose and just applied the tape itself without the foam insulation - excellent!

follow instructions.

This is the second heating tape I installed on the well pump sump line. The first was shorted. I followed the instructions for the tee. Aluminum winding, heating tape and insulation. My well is outside, isolated, and I placed a digital temperature sensor in the well. The recipient is in the kitchen. I live in Michigan and all winter the reading was in the 50's.

It's okay though. Best in Grob Sanitary

This tubular heater is a solid set of heating wires, but it has serious flaws that MUST be installed before freezing. It's useless if the pipe is frozen. I had to find out by calling the company and after one of my pipes froze last winter. It's also not intended for outdoor use, for the obvious reason, unless you take precautions to cover the heating pad and tube from freezing.

Doesn't work - never heats or even

Purchased in July with the intention of installing it on my copper pipes that are on display in my garage over the winter to prevent freezing. In December on the north coast it was around 20-30 degrees for several days and weeks, but the cable didn't get warm. It doesn't work, don't know what to do now as the return period has expired. It's connected to a GFCI strip and the light is on to confirm it, but the cable never gets hot.

Great support and product

The support team was outstanding and the product really works. The outer tube used for my drain pump was freezing cold until I ran this wire along the length of the PVC tube. Now the water flows without the support of the pump. The best part is Jensen Distributing's support team. For some reason I opted for 1 day shipping when I thought I had gone for the regular 5-7 day delivery. The cost was very high as I paid twice as much for the item as I did for shipping. The company returned the amount…

Fantastic product for harsh plumbing

We recently had a severe winter storm in North Texas with very low temperatures. We work full time in our RV. We already had insulated/heated plumbing, but the outdoor faucet wasn't protected from the extreme cold. We had a much shorter heating cable that fully protected the faucet, so no worries. Coming out of our sewer line, however, was a different story. This new 12 inch heating cable takes care of the open section of the PVC pipe so we no longer have a freezing problem. The only…

Reliable and efficient

That's great. I like them because they don't eat energy. Maybe 3 watts per foot? They are reliable when properly installed. Just don't cover more than once, they will melt. They cannot be repaired once damaged, so prevent them from being eaten by cows etc! The thermometer is the same. I think it turns on at 32, but I've found that if you tie the sensor to one spot on a hose or pipe, make sure it's not the warmest spot on the pipe (depends on how you use it wrap - wrap evenly). Otherwise, the…
