Not very waxy, but still grippy!

I expected this thread to be more waxy but it was NOT. I bought wax upholstery thread/button thread from Jo-Anns which made my hand sticky after using it and this thread does NOT have that much residue. This is a DRY wax thread, almost like a good dental floss. However, it still sticks a bit when I thread it through the buttons, which is what I use it for. I like it but it's not quite what I expected.

Worked great!

This is my first time making a sewn binding. The marriage journal (photo 2) is sewn with a pamphlet seam with 5 holes. The first photo shows the seams on the spine. The third picture shows where I tied the knots in the middle of the first label. Until I was tying knots, I didn't realize that using waxed thread makes the knots very strong and prevents them from unraveling. I pierced all the sides and the back with an awl and used a yarn needle for sewing. It was really easy.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Crumpled Wrapping

Buying a new Audi seat would cost me an incalculable $$$$$ (heated and cooled seats), so I decided to give this heavy thread a shot. I ordered some heavy duty sewing needles (regular needles wouldn't pierce the leather of the seat) and sewed up the growing hole. If you didn't know it was made by me, you wouldn't say it. The car seat has been restored and looks great. I spent a few…
