Excellent with only one problem

The quality is excellent and a lot of attention has been paid to the operation, except for one major glaring error. Lid doesn't close! As soon as my kids pick it up, the lid pops off. If it weren't for these problems, I would recommend it to all parents with young children who love nature.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Minor problems

Broke after 1 use for science kits and toys

I love...or really wanted to love it but it didn't last more than 1 troubleshoot. The lip on the top of the large container broke and some of the plastic broke off causing it to be discarded as it could injure little fingers. I was hoping for a more solid product as we are generally happy with Educational Insights products.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Long delivery time

My boys are obsessed!

oh my god my boys are obsessed with this! They shared and collaborated to use the magnifying glass sections. They tested it on flowers until they could "catch a habitat lizard." It is durable and attractive to both children and adults. I think we will study many, many creatures in the future.

so versatile! suitable for science kits and toys

My 9 year old son loves it! I bought it for him before we went camping so he can catch little bugs. When we got to the campsite we found that they also have crabs and frogs! In this water-rich habitat lived 10 crabs at the same time. No leaks! There were also locusts and other bugs he found. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys catching and releasing bugs! The little magnifying glasses around the habitat are great too!

The bugs escaped and arrived broken

Arrived with a piece broken off that made a hole in the top. I glued it back on and made sure everything was secure. I filled it with ladybugs, put it on top and they immediately started fleeing. The lid doesn't fit snugly enough so they squeezed out a small area between the lid and the side wall of the case. My son is so disappointed. Maybe better for large animals or aquatic life, but not bugs.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons

Uncomfortable opening and closing

Extremely uncomfortable opening and closing. The lid and base don't fit together easily, and the locking mechanism is so flimsy that you can't even tell if it's locked until you try to lift it. If this is such an unpredictable picture for an adult, how uncomfortable is it to operate on a child. Prepare for accidental drops or spills when you're confident everything is safe. I also don't like that the inner bottom of the box has an inexplicable and unnecessary semi-circular dome in the middle…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Negative impression

It is so much fun! Also holds water

Gift to grandchildren for Christmas. Now that it's warmer he has the opportunity to use it and he likes it. We had a flood here and the creek burst its banks. When he withdrew, he left a small pond in the field near his home with several fish in it. He and his sister were delighted to put a few in this container. It holds water, that's for sure! They love it. I think I will buy another one so everyone can have one. They are 9 and 10 years old but I have to say my son loved it too. To be honest…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • There are defects

Pretty but not functional.

If I were to judge solely on attractiveness it would be a solid four but unfortunately it just isn't functional. Hence the two. The top does not attach well and if your child holds on to the handle with something in the bug house, the bottom will fall off. I accidentally bump into something, the floor falls off. Sneeze a little, the floor falls off. Drink too much tequila. No, wait, that was different. We took this cutie on a bug hunt, caught a few bugs and imagine our surprise when they all…

Habitat for wet or dry creatures

Habitat is a rectangular, gallon-sized hard plastic tank with 5 points of magnification and a cool, retractable, rotating feeder. Ideal for dry or wet environments. There is a lid with a handle for children. The lid also has small holes to allow the creature to breathe. Since we lived in the city, we decided to use the habitat for the beta fish. A gallon volume is spacious, the fish are happy. Children can observe the fish up close using the magnifying glass rings on the side of the enclosure…
