Faster than I had, but not as fast as I had hoped.

Not as fast as advertised. The 100Mbps card was changed to make it faster, but the other 1Gbps cards in the other two computers that connect directly to the gateway hit 975Mbps and it never went over 230 Mbit/s. I'm not concerned about faster internet speeds, but I would like faster file transfers over the network than between directly connected computers. Most of my WiFi connected devices (iPhone, some iPads, MBP) are faster than this "gigabit" adapter.

Pros
  • Network cards
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Wow! I can't believe this postcard was delivered to me!

I have a Linux VPN router server that I use as a gateway computer to my local network. I use Samba and all my computers are PCs. I was struck by lightning and the spike pulled out a card which I added to the computer. I use the built-in Ethernet adapter for WAN. I tried several cards to replace the one that was added. I added drivers to the OS, changed slots, called support for different cards, and all cards appeared, but did not work. I was beginning to think my motherboard had been shattered…

It's at least

Like others I've had trouble fitting this card onto my desktop. The motherboard slot and card pins did not line up and weren't even close. I had to remove the bracket from the card to fit the PCIe slot on the motherboard. Not a disaster as I was able to hold the card in my hand while plugging in the ethernet cable. The biggest issue for me was throughput. The card is slightly slower than the onboard LAN, possibly due to the speed difference between the onboard circuitry and the PCIe interface…

  • cheap Internal

Good product at a reasonable price

I ordered this ethernet adapter because I was upgrading my internet service from 100Mbps to 300Mbps. I wanted to take full advantage of the high speed. My computer was about 4 years old and fit and working perfectly. I had to download the driver even though the product said it was plug and play for Win10. It works as intended. I had to contact tech support (via email) multiple times for help to ensure the driver installed properly.

Pros
  • Computers and accessories
Cons
  • No insurance
