Works great! I've never been a hard boiled egg guru and this makes life so much easier. Bought from Target for only $5.00.

I used to have egg timers with red guides. The yellow-colored instruction manual is very difficult to read while cooking. In addition, the water smelled clearly of melting plastic when it was first used. When I took it out, the water smelled like burnt plastic. Not a good buy.

I have no idea how the people who rated it higher use it. First, it's hard to know what stage it is in using a large pot of boiling water. But what takes it from average to terrible is that it keeps turning pages so you can't read it anyway. I literally had to flip it 5 or 6 times and was expecting 2 eggs.

This timer can be a bit difficult to read if you keep the water boiling constantly. But I do not know. I bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat so it boils. Under these circumstances, the timer is very easy to read. I love hard boiled eggs and they are difficult to cook in the usual way. The yolk is either too runny or too hard. I've used this timer 3 times (boiled 3 eggs each time) and got medium boiled eggs each time. That's a win in my book!
