Description of ElecGear NV-2242A USB 3.1 NVMe Enclosure: High-Speed Mini External Aluminum Adapter for PCIe M.2 SSD, 10Gbps Flash Drive with Magnet Cap

The world’s smallest NVMe enclosure for 2230 / 2242 NVMe SSD. Insert an NVMe solid state drive to build your own superfast flash drive. 10Gbps USB3.1 Gen2 Type A plug and PCI Express internal interface delivers rapid data rate at 1000MB/s - 20 times faster than normal memory stick. [ATTENTION] - The adapter fits ✅30mm and ✅42mm NVMe M.2 SSD only! ❌Not fit 2260 or 2280. ❌Not compatible with SATA 2242 and mSATA (Mini SATA). (🔺Never classify an M.2 disk by its ‘KEY’ form. Most 2230 / 2242 NVMe come in ‘B+M’, while many 2242 SATA also come in ‘B+M’ which is NOT supported. Make sure it is an ‘NVMe’ and the PC comes with ✅Type A port. ❌Not fit USB C port. Slim aluminum housing features magnetic cap design. Thermal silicon pad included. Integrated connector with no more tangled cable. UASP, Trim, SMART supported; Plug & Play installation. Compatible with Windows, Apple Mac OS, Linux and Android. (🔺The case will greatly heat up due to the unbelievable high performance. The main chip and NVMe produce a lot of heat). Compatible with NVMe memory in M.2 2230 / 2242 form factor: Toshiba Kioxia KBG30ZMSxxxG / KBG40ZNS1T01 / RC100; WD SN520 2230 SDAPTUW / 2242 SDAPMUW; Samsung PM971 2230 / PM991 2242 MZ-ALQ2560; Sabrent Rocket 2242 (SB-1342-xxx); Lite-on T12 EVO / T12 Plus / T11 Plus / S9A0; Lexar NM520; SK Hynix BC511 / BC501; Lenovo X780 / X800 / SL700 and some internal memory card pulled from notebook or ultrabook. What You Get: 1*ElecGear NV-2242A NVMe Enclosure; 1* Screw for M.2; 1* Thermal Pads; 1*Hand Strap; 1* PH00 Screwdriver. (🔺Note: Choose NV-2242C for USB C plug. Turn to NG-2242 models for SATA SSD. Empty case with no Internal memory included!)

Too hot, not recommended.

I installed linux on it but it never booted. Works well as an external hard drive but gets very hot. I don't know how long this will last, I think the heat will eventually destroy the NVME drive. Not recommended.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model

Close, but missing the main need (m.2 2230)

Looks good, reliable device. I/O works as expected. Check out the magnetic lid closure and key fob attachment. However, it will NOT fit 2230 size devices. It will only fit 2242. You can use 2230 but it is just a friction fit and may loosen over time. My hard drives are m.2 2230 and it doesn't work for me. Remove any mention of compatibility with the 2230 and it gets five stars.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not bad

a rare find but no screw hole for 2230

this is generally a rarity i could only find 2 short nvme cases on the internet namely 2242 and smaller this is because my wife has a new dell inspiron die 2-in-1 5000 series (Intel 11th Gen) came with a 2230 NVME and I upgraded to a much larger and faster NVME, allowing me to take advantage of the small size and performance of a Dell machine with 256GB wanted to use. Something more compact and faster of this comes with ElecGear in the picture, you can see how much smaller it is compared to the

Solid build quality. works but not

It contains breakable circuit boards that allow you to expand 2230 to 2242. The build quality is solid and assembly is easy. The problems start when you actually try to use this thing. It gets very hot when idling and doesn't recognize my WD SN530 NVMe 1TB except for a split second when I turn it off, with the same behavior on multiple PCs. The same SSD works great in a Sabrent case.

  • makes me nervous

I'm happy with my purchase

Feeling good. I had some trouble installing it as it was designed for a longer NVME and mine was smaller so I couldn't screw it in. But I did it. Also just to save time for anyone who might run into this problem. Once you get it in and plugged into your computer. If you don't see it, check Device Manager. When you shut down your laptop, it may not have the partition label assigned that your computer will need to recognize.

Pros
  • I'm looking forward to it
Cons
  • I'm having problems

rare find but no threaded hole for 2230

is rare at all i could only find 2 short nvme cases on internet they are 2242 and below this is because my wife has a new dell inspiron 2 in -1 Series 5000 (Intel 11th Gen) came with a 2230 NVME and I upgraded to a much larger and faster NVME so with 256GB I wanted to take advantage of the small size and performance of a Dell machine . Great little device!

Bought after I bought a Sabrent 512GB Rocket 2242 NVMe SSD for my laptop but later didn't need it. This enclosure is a great little portable SSD that ends up being a bit smaller than most other portable SSDs currently on the market. The build quality is fantastic, solid metal. Installing an SSD is easy enough and has worked great so far! Speeds will of course vary depending on the SSD used, but for me I'm close enough to the speed that the Sabrent drive advertises, so I suspect the controller…

Cons
  • It's fine

New review: I bought two of these and one broke relatively quickly. I have contacted support and they tell me that Revain will not replace them due to issues with their seller account. So now I have a bad one that they can't replace due to Revain rules. Now I don't have the cost of one of them and expect the other to fail soon. Don't buy them because if one of them dies you can't replace it and they won't refund your money. OLD Review: This thing is amazing. It gets quite warm, but that's…
