So I had an original Logitech trackball in the old ol' days of the 386SX and this thing was a tank. It was reliable, lasted forever, and rarely needed cleaning or maintenance. I believe he eventually died after about 14 years of service. I replaced it with newer models from the same company and was a bit disappointed. Update: I swapped the ball for a ball from my Logitech m570. Now the movement is smoother. I'm not sure if I have a ball with a quality issue, but changing the ball improved the situation. It's still not as smooth as the m570, but it's a big improvement. I still don't recommend it, but others might find it helpful to know the improvement after the rally.
