I bought this to replace the Frigidaire Pure Source 2 filter. The filter was old and clogged. The water from the dispenser in the door became a trickle and the ice cubes became small and brittle. The filter went straight into place. The water pressure returned to normal and the ice cubes were fine again. NO MODIFICATION of the taste of the water/ice cubes. There are no leaks around the filter. Does what it should. I will not go back to the usual expensive filter. highlighted.

Installing a water softener or other type of filter in front of your fridge will save you from having to buy an Electrolux water filter. You simply remove the filter already installed and install that (it just sticks in place) and no more spending extra money on filters you don't need. Filters used to be heavier and made of clear plastic, with activated carbon visible inside. Now they are white plastic and not as heavy as they used to be. You can't look inside either - so I'm guessing they don't use the same filter material either. After I bought 4 OEM filters and the filters showed up, I decided to buy this plug to avoid the whole filter situation
