We lost our coins and pen so I ordered a replacement. This new version is not that good. The coins are huge and the slot at the top is gigantic. The old lady actually required my little one with her special needs to use her fine motor skills to put a coin in the slot. Her occupational therapist loved it. It's practically effortless. Another great Montessori activity for the little ones. My son got it for his first birthday and was immediately impressed. He loves to open the drawer and empty the coins and then put the coins back in the drawer. It's definitely in development! He doesn't have the dexterity to slip the coins through the slot at the top, but he can! I would say this is a great job for 12-18 months. The coins are the perfect size for little hands.
