For what they use they are acceptable - just winding embroidery floss. They are made of very thin cardboard or maybe very thick paper. If you are not careful, you can tear off the cut part of the filament holder. I thought they were great at first, but after wrapping a lot of strands, I noticed that two or three strands were sticking together, so I thought it was more durable. When I took them apart I found them too thin. Overall not the best

Some other reviewers seem to think these cardboard filament spools are too flimsy; Maybe they are used to plastic spools or got different ones than I did because I found them quite satisfactory. I've certainly seen thinner coils and been pleasantly surprised by them. I would say they are just a hair thinner or the same weight as the ones you can get with the DMC label. At 500 rolls this is a real deal and I will buy them again when I run out.

Great Value! I know other reviews say these coils are flimsy. I don't find this problem. They are thicker than Joann's spools of thread, which come in Joann sleeve garters. I've been embroidering and crossing for 50 years and I really like these thread holders. Yes, they're cut a little deep where the thread attaches, but if you're careful, these holders are fine! Very happy with my purchase. This is a great price compared to prices at craft stores.
