Will not work with A/V accessory

This only works if you stand directly in front of the IR receiver, making the purchase worthless. And the quality of the components is questionable. DO NOT BUY

Pros
  • Infrared Remote Control Extension: First check your device to make sure it has a port labeled "IR".
Cons
  • Mostly ok, but...

Works great in remote control extensions

I ran an HDMI cable through the attic but forgot to run the IR cable. Thank heaven for this product! Connected at both ends, positioned IR receiver and emitter, it worked perfectly the first time. And since then every time!

Pros
  • . Supports IR frequencies from 20kHz to 60kHz which covers almost all devices. Only 20 feet, standard AV communication protocol for remote control functions.
Cons
  • No Insurance

WILL NOT WORK for

I have a Samsung TV and a Spectrum cable box. Connected via HDMI. I spent most of the evening trying to get this to work and it won't work. The cable box is in the basement and the TV is on the ground floor 15 feet directly above the cable box. Don't waste money on it. Spend a little more and get what works.

Pros
  • Power Free Power Strips with Remote Control. No power supply required (uses Power over HDMI cable from HDMI source).
Cons
  • Security

Notice what's next to your HDMI port

HDMI and IR ports cannot be connected at the same time. There are other connections to my cable box getting in the way. There is no other way to connect it to the cable box as there is only one HDMI port on the cable box. Notice the connectors, the IR ports protrude at a 90 degree angle, about 1 inch, from the HDMI port. It has no flex.

Pros
  • Turn on the HDMI IR adapter for CEC devices, slide the switch from "IR" to "CEC", IR function or CEC function can be switched, support RCMM.
Cons
  • Annoying

I used an extension cord to send a remote control signal down a 25ft HDMI cable in the wall to the control room. caused a problem when sending long passwords, as a character was "skipped" if you hesitated too long when entering the password. No problem with Ensigear. It only lost a star because a better guide mentioning a compatible cable issue would have saved some time AND that discarded cable was GOLD.

Pros
  • This is the perfect remote control expansion solution for any room in the house, hidden Xbox One, AV receivers and more.
Cons
  • Lots of things
