Amazing picture quality!

I will never look for other scanners. I bought Pilates as a cheap alternative and it was terrible in comparison. So if you want professional quality images, never choose Plustek.

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Scanners are 90% perfect

I say 90% because the latest EpsonScan2 software doesn't let you define percentage sizes while the old EpsonScan software does. (see comparison in the photo). Taking off a star because it annoys me when "upgrades" are inferior to the previous version. Yes the scanner comes with Silverfast which is very sophisticated software that allows you to measure size by percentage but it is more than I need and the older software was more intuitive and had everything I needed without the extra Frills. Of…

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Great scans for serious amateurs and professionals!

This is a professional scanner and the price may put amateurs off. It can scan large documents with very high resolution. Of course, such scans produce very large scan files. I prefer to scan at high resolution (800+ dpi) and archive the original scan to removable hard drives or the web. One method I use for documents that are even larger than the scanner's range is to scan in higher resolution blocks and merge them back to the original high resolution size. This can overwhelm the computer's…

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • I don't remember, but there was something

For a tabloid format scanner, you can't do better.

Replaces Expression V700 (excellent). A large scanning area was required. The images this scanner produces are surprisingly good and the warm-up time is close to zero (thanks to the LED backlight).

Pros
  • Dream come true
Cons
  • Nothing

I love this scanner! The software package is not very good.

I collect animated images which I scan to put in my online gallery and so on. Most pieces will not fit on a standard A4 / US Legal sized scanner, so the size of this unit is great for me. The 12000XL scans my images sharp and bright. It's amazingly fast at 300dpi. If you need wide format scanning I highly recommend this scanner. I bought this unit to upgrade an Epson 10000XL which still works and has served me well for several years. As you'd expect, this scanner is large and heavy - you'll…
