They are not real wood but they look real! They have a rubbery feel which ensures a snug fit. There are absolutely no tension issues and my project was easy to insert for a nice display. If you take the piece in and out frequently, it will leave some dried paint behind, but it will be removed immediately.

Hardware is good for a simple nail or hook to hang on the wall. would definitely buy again!

I'm sure this hoop will hold the fabric, but from a frame perspective I wanted it to have darker spots that look like this in the picture. Instead, they are colored light brown instead of dark brown and are made in China. This is not mentioned anywhere in the product description. I'll throw it away, it's a waste of money for me.
