I am a loyal customer of estwing

I have about 7 of their products and will continue to buy estwing. Quality and feel are second to none. This ball is no exception and is used. A nice tool too.

Pros
  • satisfied so far
Cons
  • vulgarity

Pointed ball suitable for hand tools

This is a poor quality hammer, buy Vaughan. As mentioned in other reviews, this ball head has a point on the round part of the hammer. If you don't believe me, buy it and you'll see the poor workmanship for yourself.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly

I love Estwing hammers!

If you haven't used an Estwing Hammer before, do yourself a favor and get one! No matter what, they are all good! They last a lifetime, loss and theft must be the only thing keeping them in business because I've never had to replace them because they broke.

Pros
  • Enjoyable

Probably America's Best Brand of Hammer

I originally bought the 16 ounce ball head version of this wooden handled hammer, but later returned it when I found the all metal hammer. This hammer has great balance and enough weight to smash your tin can with decent control. I have all estwing hammers and am happy with each one.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Modern

Well Done Good for Hammers

The only complaint is that the metal surfaces are covered in a thick clear coat. They look great but the clear coat on the hammer does not scratch or scratch during use. I've tried removing it with acetone and abrasives but to no great effect. However, this is a cosmetic issue that will improve over time as I use the hammer. And I assume this hammer will last a lifetime.

Quality control issue

The hammer appears to be of good quality but has many small parts. The material of the handle is rough and unfinished, there are chips in the metal at the neck of the hammer, and the biggest problem is that there must be a ball on the back of the hammer for this to be a ball-head hammer. Unfortunately whoever ground and machined this head did not round the ball, there are two distinct grinding marks leading to a blunt point in the centre, making it useless as a ball hammer as it will cut into…

If you need one of the best hammers

If you need one of the best hammers, look no further. When I was a child my father had an Estwing hammer which I have now and for many years he believed that all hammers should be made this way. But most of them aren't, and many of them seem cheap. After someone took my old bullet trap hammer (not Estwing) and never returned it, I figured it was time to upgrade it. When I opened the package I was not disappointed. It's more expensive, but in this case you get what you pay for. That's the real…

Quality Control Issue

This hammer appears to be of high quality but many of the small details appear to be wrong. steel vs copper? Apparently copper wins.

Only good reviews on this hammer. That should have alarmed me, but I thought I might have found a reliable American tool. Well I would ask how many of these reviews are genuine. If it is indeed a US tool, Estwing should be ashamed. The two main points are: 1. The pointed head is NOT round. It was meant to be round but was lazily processed, cut out and left unfinished. The result is a spiraling, uneven head that creates jagged dots and jagged edges in your work. It's totally useless for framing…
