Just right for older fossil hunters like me.

The weight of this hammer suits me. I have arthritis in my hands and can't handle a bigger hammer. If I need a heavier hammer my fossil buddy can borrow his grandson for bigger rocks. Makes a big difference in your fossil bag with all the items that come with you in the field. It's like, "Hello, I'm a fossil and a fossil hunter." Seriously, I'm not that old.

#1 Light to Heavy Duty Picks

I own almost every model of lockpicks that Estwing makes (both leather and rubber handles). They are used to remove large (up to 700 pounds) boulders buried in mountains as well as tons of soil/clay/roots to create natural landscapes. Every pickaxe has its place, but this 13-ounce, rubber-handled model is so convenient and indestructible that it should be considered by anyone looking to have a new best friend for decades (unless you're using it to pick hours digging boulders - then expect about

Rugged, built for the job, superior quality

Excellent for welding and tool/machinery repair/maintenance. Works like a nice little hammer for making small adjustments when welding, knocking off slag, works like a crowbar, can use the handle as leverage, great for cutting, can stick thin ends through parts to move hot plates with every little hole. One can use the end of the chisel to line up the holes and use a hammer to press it in place OR take another hammer and hit the hammer face to force something to line up or use the point to get…

Heavier than expected

This is a great hammer but a little heavier and larger than I expected. I was looking for a lightweight rock hammer to hang on my belt while hiking and exploring. I have a VERY OLD 18oz. From my father (pictured is a hammer with a brown handle). I think he's at least 60 years old and still going strong! But it's a bit too heavy for me. I'm 5'5" and 130 pounds. I thought a 13 ounce hammer would do, but it's basically the same size as my dad's old hammer, just a little lighter (the hammer with…

Excellent grip and fun to use

I bought this tool to dig in Sunstone mines in the Oregon desert. It was an absolute pleasure to own and use. I don't have much strength in my hands and was worried it would be too heavy to use, but after using it for a few days I didn't feel tired. It cut through desert sands so smoothly and split rocks so easily that I continued to use it past its scheduled shutdown time, returning to my camp after nightfall in the 25 degrees Fahrenheit. This tool just wants to work for you and do whatever it

  • THE WORLD'S #1 GEOLOGIST - Choice for climbers, prospectors and contractors
