After reading some reviews that the fit and finish of Estwing hammers were not up to par, I decided to review my previous experience with the Estwing hammer (picked up from site ) to trust as a replacement for my ordered a new one. . All I can say is it's great, no dents, no blemishes, straight lines where it should be. I'm 2 for 2 on these great tools and unless another theft happens don't expect you'll ever need one again.

I bought the short version (for carpentry) which looks the same as the longer framed version, not the picture. The short version does not have an eagle head like in the picture. The quality is excellent. I like the leather handle and the brushed baseplate. A cutout on the side to help with nail pulling is good. This hammer is strong and will outlive me. I'm happy.

Claw tips were broken off. There was no eagle logo as shown in the advertised image. The powder coating looks poor quality, tons of blisters and chips, and it's already rusting underneath. Estwing is a hammer of hammers but this is the best I've ever used. The momentum and balance are excellent. This replaces the carcass hammer and branch hammer for me. The claw part is slightly shorter, so better for tight spaces; Also, it allows for more leverage when pulling nails. It's also a great looking hammer. I would be just as happy to hang it on the living room wall if my wife would let me.

The finish on this hammer is terrible. The handle is in better shape than the rest of the hammer, but still not perfect. In some places there are scratches, bumps and traces of hardened mucus. The black paint is cracked and it even looks like something has been sanded or rubbed off in some places as if there was no quality control during assembly.
