Very bad quality. on power

I regret buying this refractory brick. It was the quality of the pool. It had many cavities and cracks. Not suitable for silver soldering.

Pros
  • quick replacement
Cons
  • too dull

Firebricks should be easier to come by

Using a small handsaw I was able to build a small "furnace" in which to place my crucible for melting propane silver. Its non-conductivity is truly remarkable.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Jewelry making

Excellent for soldering. Yes they can be a little crumbly but mine arrived in perfect condition and exactly what I wanted, thought they were and what I needed. Arrived in bubble wrap and securely packaged. Good if you have to cut too. I would recommend these for use in isolation with a forge.

Exactly what I needed.

Ordered to work with silver and copper jewellery. That's exactly what I need for the application. Just a small catch. When the box was opened, one corner was crumpled and a small piece was missing from one of the short edges. Doesn't affect what I use, but thought I might point that out.

Pros
  • Color:
Cons
  • Older model

good insulator for torch work

I am new to working with metal. What I don't want to do is set my table on fire! I've started soldering a bit with my crème brûlée burner, read a suggestion online or in a book to use a ceramic fireclay brick under a magnesia brick as extra heat protection for your worktop, so I got this one. (I put everything on an old foil-lined baking sheet.) I don't work with very large pieces, mostly bracelet-sized, and some practice square designs come from a soldering book I bought. So far I've only used

Pros
  • Material: ceramic
Cons
  • Available in white only
