A few hiccups but good overall

My wife ordered this saw for me after reading several product reviews. It has arrived and seems to be of pretty decent build quality. I used it to cut 16 gauge 3/4" square tubing. The first piece it cut like butter. On the second piece the motor burned out immediately. I believe I had a defective one the first time because the replacement sent did not a second wasted. The low weight is amazing.

Pros
  • Circular Saw Blades
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Good but needs improvement

First of all. I've used it to cut aluminum and it's been great for that. No burrs, just trim the edge with a file and you're good to go. This will cause the base to flex as you clamp the material. Even make sure you get a straight cut if that's impractical. Part of me wants to make a new base and another part of me wants to weld a plate onto it to strengthen it and improve flexibility.

Cons
  • Useless Features

Cuts well but retaining clip leaves something to be desired

Saw cuts steel cleanly with the right blade, hardened steel and stainless steel. The problem is that the clamp doesn't hold tight and vibrates during cutting, causing misalignment and vibration. And given the closeness between the saw motor and the fence, it's impossible to add extra tension clamps to the workpiece. Otherwise good, but dangerous and sloppy without proper retention.

Misalignment and Malfunction

Ordered 2 of these saws. There is an angle adjustment that can be reset, but the head bevel/tilt is welded on and offset about 1/16" from the 1.5" cut on both saws. The second saw had a defective guard. I spoke to their support team and they couldn't tell me if the cut accuracy was within spec and recommended returning it via Amazon or mailing it to them. Good options but I would prefer at least 1 of 2 working saws. In my defense the cuts are very clean but I believe the carbide blade on either
