Description of πŸ“ Enhance Distance Sensing with Excelity 3pcs Ultrasonic Module HC-SR04 and Mounting Bracket

[PACKAGE INCLUDED] 3pcs HC-SR04 distance measurement module & 3pcs mounting bracket for installation. [FEATURE] These module is for distance measuring transducer that working with ultrasonic, they consist of ultrasonic transmitter, receiver, and control circui. [FUNCTIONAL PARAMETER] Effectual Angle: <15 degree ; Detection Distance : 2cm~450 cm ; Resolution : 0.3 cm. Power Supply : 5V DC ; Quiescent Current : <2mA ;. [UNIVERSAL COMPATIBILITY] Built in standard interface that can be controlled directly by microcontroller, such as 8051, AVR. [WORKING PRINCIPLE] Using IO trigger for at least 10us high level signal, when triggered it sends out a series of 40KHz ultrasonic pulses and receives echo from an object, the duration of the signal is the time from sending ultrasonic to returning. The distance = (duration time * sound velocity (340M/S) / 2.

3 of 3 DOA: Motion Sensor

I hooked up an old sensor to a breadboard so it was easy to run all 3 and they all read 1us or 0 distance. I reinserted the old one and it read what it always does in this setup. I haven't seen or felt anything strange. In any case, the new ones look great and have fewer components than the old ones. They are "not available now" so I will try to get my money back and buy more elsewhere.

Cons
  • High Price

Inexpensive, accurate and so far so good.

I think I bought them at a bargain price. Make sure you connect them to 5v and use 330 ohm resistors for the echo, although most manuals claim they run on 3.3v. They work perfectly and are very accurate on the automatic door sliders for my house and show tight bodies on both sides of the door. It's funny how educational modules and sensors can do so much for so long.

Cons
  • Expensive

Generic HC-SR04 Sensor

I bought these units to replace a robotic vehicle (Picar-X) that also came with the HC-SR04 sensor. However, none of these devices worked in this application - the Picar-X turned out to supply 3.3V to the HC-SR04, while every HC-SR04 device I encountered operated at 5V. Apparently the creators of Picar -X are using the 3.3V variant or maybe they modified the stock HC-SR04. I then connected each sensor to my raspberry pi (using the Bluetin_Echo library) in turn and found all three devices to be…
