It does the job - but.

I was looking for an instant read stick thermometer and thought this was it. Now I understand that you have to pay more for it. This item gives you accurate readings, but it takes a few seconds for the reading to stabilize on the display. I really don't care - I just stick it in a pork chop and make sure to wear reading glasses because the display is a bit small.

So far so good - digital thermometer

I don't use it for long but I like that the thermometer is waterproof. This is important to me because when preparing the yeast for baking, I measure the milk/water temperature. Besides, who knows when the thermometer is in the sink? It reads accurately, but the longest reading takes around 10 seconds. Came in a sturdy case and the green color makes it easy to find in my gadget drawer.

Extech 39240 Thermometer Waterproof Shaft Type

The Extech 39240 thermometer worked great for me the first time I used it. It seems very accurate. I've only used it once. It is a great space saver, convenient, practical and compact. You can take it with you when you have a barbecue in the park, a picnic or when you visit friends. I haven't had it long enough to give it 5 stars. I will post an update if I run into any problems in the future.

just checked out my new Revain Roku TV and realized I've never checked this thermometer. As it was such a well made item that has now lasted over 5 years I feel it is only fair to give a positive review. I've only just bought 144 batteries for this thermometer as the one inside is finally dead! rzunimag. Anyway, I love this thermometer and it has served me well for making homemade wine, beer and bread.

Ok, not quite waterproof

This is a good budget thermometer. The answer is fairly quick and appears to be relatively accurate. However, it is not "waterproof". He is practically not afraid of water. That's no big surprise - most inexpensive "waterproof" digital thermometers aren't truly waterproof, and this one is no exception. On the downside, it seems to handle electronics soaking pretty well. It stops working, water gets on the display and it looks dead. But left to dry for a few days, mine has, so far at least…

Great pocket thermometer!

I've been looking for a good pocket thermometer with good performance at a reasonable price for a long time. I think Extech has a good reputation for its products. From what I've read it was a good choice. As hotel maintenance engineers, we also use laser thermometers a lot, but they're not always the best choice for certain situations and they're too big to carry in a shirt pocket. I don't always trust temperature gauges or radiator/fridge thermostats? We often take temperatures during our…
