Circuit board melted after short use

I've had this meter for about two years now and only use it to test electronics for my hobby because the batteries are dead. and for some reason the circuit board burned out and melted the internal battery holder. This counter is defective. I would not buy again.

Pros
  • Easy assembly
Cons
  • Suitable for

Best Multimeter Under $100 - Get It!

After careful research to get the best bang for your buck this was a clear winner. It's a great balance of functionality and features. I found it more than met all my requirements. I'm just a hobbyist but this gauge makes me feel safe and it works great. I would recommend it to anyone on a budget.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Long Lead Time

Great product with design flaw.

There are many devices with defects that interrupt the resistance measurement and instead display millivolts or similar errors on some of the devices being measured (mine can't measure AC voltage). The multimeter is great for a large number of blocks and functions and has the best accuracy in this price range, but it's a bet if you can get one that won't break after a few months.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not sure

The counter appears to be well built and of good quality.

This counter definitely has a design flaw in the selection scale. It wasn't very tight or precise, and the longer you use it, the weaker it gets. Eventually it becomes unusable. I did an RMA and the company sent me a new one. You seem to be aware of this lack. The replacement appears to be of the same design. I'm not sure how long that will take. Otherwise, the measuring device makes a well-made and qualitatively good impression.

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • communication with the seller

This is a budget multimeter

This is a budget multimeter and a big improvement over the EX330. However, there are several problems. The test leads that came with it weren't very good. I also recommend purchasing the Extech TL809 Electronic Test Lead Kit. If the handle is not directly in the holder, it can cause a short circuit and drain the batteries. The meter has not been damaged, but this could cause serious problems if one decides to use rechargeable batteries.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Can't remember

Inaccurate and too sensitive

The non-contact voltage tester has its own opinion and the temperature sensor has a deviation of about 20 degrees compared to the other two gauges and the field thermometer. The thermocouple will also go OL if you touch it during operation, indicating a wiring problem. Everything else seems to work, but other issues have me arguing about the accuracy of the whole thing. I bought extech based on Flir's reputation as I have used Flir devices in the past. I now think I should have bought a leechโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Nothing wrong

Works great but very slow response time

For a device with all these features this is a great buy! I would recommend it to anyone who has the patience to wait for an accurate answer. It will take some time for the meter to display the correct reading. If you are impatient, you may not see the final (correct) information. The display will change over time as it adapts to accuracy. It would be better if it didn't show any value other than "Processing" when calculating the results. But it looks very accurate. The time delay makesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Frequency

Get what you pay for or a little less

I left my beloved Simpson 260 at a customer's office over Thanksgiving weekend. The house was broken into and my 38 year old Simpson was part of their loot. This switch has survived 38 years of near-continuous travel - all 50 states, most of Europe and much of the Middle East and parts of Asia. I'm old fashioned and old so this counter was perfect. Go digital, everyone said. Fluke is great but they said it was overpriced. So I bought what might be the slowest multimeter in the universe. Yes, it

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors are here
