Inexpensive photometer

Inexpensive exposure meter that is worth its price. The only problems are: 1 - the readings shift upwards within a few minutes and 2 - there is no calibration certificate whatsoever. A NIST certificate would be quite expensive, but a reference to the calibration would be nice. I compared this room lighting stability instrument alongside my International Light Photometer. The Extech drifted significantly more than the other meter. Again, it costs many times more and is portable.

Pros
  • Large LCD with analog bar graph
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for older people

Works great - Multitester

This device serves its purpose (shadow measurement on hiking trails) very well. I connected its voltage output to an analog data logger so I can view the time-varying light intensity levels on my laptop. The device works great for several hiking weekends and correctly detects shade/sun conditions. My only issue is that the switches aren't recessed, so the device slipped into my backpack and went into a mode where the data resolution became insufficient for my needs. However, I bought a switchโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Relative and peak mode
Cons
  • Update available

Connecting the main cable to the meter after using the meter a few times, disconnecting and reconnecting during the day we used it. The connection went bad and the device stopped reading. The block failed on the second floor, we had just started from 5 floors, similar to the ones we had yet to do. we had another one that was starting to play (we bought the unit around the same time we got this one. We had to lug around general contractors to finish it. Revane said I couldn't fix it or replaceโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Backlit readings in low light
Cons
  • Only available in black
