Product looked like it would work well but it was too short. The factory formed fork ends were just too long at each end and the ends of the caps couldn't touch. Also, my 12 gauge cable was too thick to fit in the groove.

It's basically just a water repellent, not waterproof. That's probably why it says it's waterproof. To hook up my outdoor Christmas lights in rainy Seattle, everything works fine. Not a very good seal on two parts of the body, especially on the inside. I've found water in one before, but the fact that it's not actually sealed means the water will hopefully escape before it touches any electrical components. After several days of connecting to street lights hanging in the yard, the covers are NOT strong enough to hold the wires together. The lids came loose from the latch on the lids, causing the light to turn off and fall to the ground. To keep these lids together/closed I had to zip tie each part of the lid to keep the lid closed. Good quality plastic but that's about it. The seal between the cord and the item isn't tight enough, so I doubt it will hold water. Remember that you cannot create a seal with a smaller diameter line. As you can see from the attached photos, the black string coming from my Christmas lights is not tight. I ordered this to make a physical connection between two strings of lights above my patio and also to prevent rain from getting into the electrical connection. It seems to hold the fork securely enough in the mate. It is partially regulated. I think light rains will be contained but heavy rain will likely find its way into the grounds over time. I recently installed many LED string lights among the trees on my property. The only drawback of the otherwise excellent garland set (Banord) is the lack of strain relief on the plugs with a cantilever barrel. I first taped the strings together on waterproof connectors with Gorilla Tape, but I had trouble getting them loose for long stretches.
