Think before you install.

Although it came with clear instructions for installing the system, I found that on a 12ft kayak the lines needed to be attached closer together or the kayak would try to slip out of the lines to slip. They just slipped off the ends. I fixed the situation by setting the hardware to 5ft instead of 8ft. Remember to install where you have access to the wall to secure the rope with the wall brace (included). ceiling), I had to pull the rope until the sling connections were almost at the ceilingโ€ฆ

  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Rope and bolt attachment are weak points.

Was hoping it would be a lot better for the price. The two glaring issues I think are the rope itself and how it is attached. First, the rope is already worn out and I've only used it once. I don't know how, maybe because the brakes are stuck or it's just a very cheap rope. I think it's the last. The other big problem is that you attach the loop rope to one of the cross bolts that holds the pulleys to the ceiling mount. The problem is that the bolts are fully threaded, so the nylon rope wrapsโ€ฆ

Great product, best at loading docks

Very easy to take if you have mechanical skills. My grandchildren could do this. Took me 1 hour and to be honest I spent most of my time figuring out where to put it. The instructions are ok if you have an idea of how a cable works. Pre-drill holes for the screws so they don't get hot and break. Common sense is not that common. Throw away the rope and get the best, it's cheap, what's the difference. What did you expect for the price? I would recommend this to anyone and if you have troubleโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Not bad, but room for improvement.

The product arrived very timely. The installation guide was pretty easy. I didn't use the included screws when going through the garage ceiling which is two layers of drywall. I had to climb into the garage attic to add support studs as the 2x4s were moving sideways and I didn't want the canoe hanging in that direction. My canoe is 118 pounds so that's the limit. The two screws holding the rope tie came loose and stuck them into the wall (wood) which didn't give me much confidence. Moved it and

Inexpensive as an accessory

I used it to stow a kayak over my car in my garage. Installation was pretty easy. Note that the instructions say to mount the brackets 2/3 the length of the kayak apart - this is NOT CORRECT. You want to mount more than 1/3 of the length of the kayak. I marked the length at 2/3, thinking they looked too far apart and moved them closer together. I climbed about 5ft for a 10ft kayak and it was even further than I think ideal. When the kayak got wet and I tried to lift it, the straps slipped outโ€ฆ
