Pencils don't reach a good (or even decent) point. It seemed to work with non-FC pencils for the first week, but never worked well with FC pencils. I've only had this pencil sharpener for a week so I hope this item will last! I liked it so much that I recommended it to my child's teachers. What I like about this pencil sharpener: 1. I had a very bad relationship with sharpeners, especially Prismacolor Premier pencils. I went over almost the entire pencil multiple times before I could get a point without breaking it. I know Prismacolor has a bad reputation anyway, but sharpening almost an entire pencil was really starting to annoy me - so I tried different sharpeners and although Prismacolor has a bad reputation, the sharpener seems to make all the difference.
