but it just doesn't compare to better notches

I don't know what I was expecting for the price. However, the notch cannot be used with factory grinds. After some work I can use it, but it just doesn't compare to the better hacks.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Something different

Good product! for crafting

I use this to remove foam insulation from a cavity in picnic fridges. I use this cavity to insert a heating pad to make a cooler in a wildlife hatchery as I do wildlife rehabilitation. For this purpose it works great!

Can't complain about the build

This is basically what I expected for the price and shipping from the UK took a while. I think with some work this could be a useful tool. The blade is slightly off center and looks like it might be glued to the handle. I think I'll know when it breaks in half. It was really cheap so can't complain.

Poor quality steel came with a jagged edge, all burrs.

Instead of buying this, take your $14, go outside and light a match. Low quality steel had a jagged edge and burrs around the perimeter. I sharpened it but it won't hold an edge because it's cheap mild steel. Quality is cheaper than price. Spend $60 or $80 on a good quality curved chisel, or buy a 1/4" straight chisel and you're better off. Wasn't expecting much for the price but still felt cheated.

Rough inside like a piston

I'm only giving this tool two stars because it's so cheap. I should have listened to the low reviews others have given for this tool, but I realized that the price was worth it. The inner curved surface of this notch looks as if it has been ground down with a piece of concrete. I spent hours sanding and polishing the inside with a Dremel rotary tool and sharpening the back with diamond stones. It's pretty sharp now but doesn't work for what I needed it for. However, it is more about the shape…

Good product but useless for carving spoons

I have recently started carving wooden spoons and decided to buy a curved chisel instead of a spoon knife as they are difficult to sharpen. I was so excited when I got this in the mail. First it came much quicker than what was listed on Amazon, around 10 business days. The packaging was a little smaller than I would have liked, but the product was not damaged. Second, the recess is made with high quality, especially considering its cost. However, I soon noticed a problem. In the image of the…
