Transformer Noise from Fan

Purchased 2 new fans for an external shielded room and found that both fans emit an electronic hum similar to transformer hum. Tried this solid state variable resistor and it cut off almost all the noise. Great idea that worked.

Pros
  • Tools and Housewares
Cons
  • Infinitely Sluggish

Dangerously Hot

I installed this for a 4.7A 115V Fantech fan The switch gets so hot I burn my fingers on the switch plate. If I hadn't been there it might have started a fire. I stopped using the fan until I got some from the local electric company. Also, the included switch plate doesn't sit flat, as it's so flat that it rests on the screws that hold the switch in the back box, causing the plate to wobble from side to side. And the pen itself is very cheap.

Pros
  • Ceiling Fans and Accessories
Cons
  • Poorly Thoughtful
