Filtrete Maximum Filtration Reduces 3US MAX F01 Review

The package arrived on time but the box is slightly damaged see photo. This is most likely because the filter came in a bag and not a regular Revain box. Fortunately, the filter was not damaged and works perfectly. I like this particular filter for quality, reliability and taste. It does the job! Now I wish they would stock them regularly and appreciate the price - $40+ for a 6 month filter is a bit steep.

We have been buying them once or twice a year for 4 years. This is the first time they've arrived like this. The plastic bag they came in was torn. The boxes have packing tape to hold them together. The boxes literally fell apart and the filters fell out when I took the boxes out of the bag. The makeshift strip that tells you when to change the filter is broken in the pocket and everything is red in color. We cannot say whether these are new filters at all. This is unacceptable!

I used this filter for several years when 3M discontinued it. The water tasted good and seemed to do the trick. The downside (adjustment aside) is that the filter reduced the water pressure in the sink it was installed in by about a quarter (due to the lead filtration). I could use other cartridge filters for this, but none of them result in a filter (my preference for a specific filter). So I switched to a similar woder cartridge system and had to remount the shackle with the woder shackle.

According to published test results, we have a really good water supply. I haven't done any tests myself, but I can feel the difference in our water, especially when brewing coffee. Obviously the filter is removing something as after about 6 months the flow rate starts to decrease and we know it's time to replace it. I don't drink anything but water and pay close attention to the taste as it shouldn't be there. This is a good filter but it doesn't last the 6 months stated on the packaging. The price is good, but the lifespan is short. One day I received a used filter. Another time I used a filter and the charcoal would not stop flowing the entire week we had it. It would be nice if 3m offered a recycling program for used canisters. I have used all 3 stages of Filtrete sink filters and found that the 3US-MAX-F01 simply did not have enough water pressure to be used in combination with a kitchen sink.
