Cleans water very well. My only issue is that they fill up quickly because they work so well. I have two FX4 systems for a 150 gallon aquarium and they work very well.

This is definitely a budget saver but expect to run out in a week or two (depending on load). I believe that was the reason my motor failed because within a year of using them I suddenly started having flow problems. The brand name is much thicker and stronger and allows water to flow better. Again, this brand doesn't cut them all the same. Brand name left and below

Excellent, economical replacement filter for the fx5 Fluval canister filter. Best used in the 3rd basket with a polishing pad between two blue fine filter pads. You get 21 per pack and if you use the combo above you get almost a year's worth of filters in one order if you swap them out every 2 weeks. I have a 220 gallon aquarium with several large adult fish (Arowana, Texas Cichlid, Osphronemus, Clown Knife and others. Size varies from 6 inches to 2.5 feet).

Exactly the same as Marineland, Fluval or other branded filter media. They are perfect for the FX5. This is a better choice for dirty fish than white filters that clog easily. These blue filters are a coarser mesh. Use two filters in your FX5 at the same time, and when the top one becomes uncleanable and/or falls apart, throw it away and put a new one under the not-so-dirty second pad, which now becomes the top filter.
