Kenwood TM-281a + this antenna. Removed tuning recommendation to get best SWR: 1.0 at 142MHz, gradually increasing to 1.6 at 148MHz. great value Continuous. All 3 of my newly installed antennas were Firestick. I like them all.

This antenna works very well for me mounted on the driver's fender of my pickup truck. This antenna, based on my environment, performs better than my 5/8 wave antenna for repeater coverage in western New York. It was spot on across the entire 2 meter band. It appears to be solidly built and well finished. Warranty 5 years, I doubt I will need it. Ordered in black so as not to attract too much attention.

Installed this antenna on a Relentless Fabrication hood mount on a Toyota Tacoma. The antenna is easy to tune and achieves 1.4:1 or less in the 2m band. Some test QSOs with various repeaters in the area resulted in complete or near complete silence. I needed an antenna that short so I could get into the garage and not ram all the low hanging branches around. I used a Wilson magnetic roof mount and this antenna blew everyone away!
