A digital recreation of a classic.

If you're old-fashioned and wind up records with your teeth and play, you're playing with a steel comb. It's not like this. This is a battery powered digital game. "The original 1971 Fisher Price Change-A-Record music box, otherwise known as the Fisher Price turntable, is back." Incorrect statement. If I had read the comments beforehand I would not have bought it.

A little different, but still great!

I know some people are upset that it's not what it used to be and I almost bought the original off eBay but I think it's great. I particularly liked the fact that the packaging contains almost no plastic. It was all cardboard and then paper thread holding the panels together (see picture). It doesn't have grooves or a traditional record needle, but I'm okay with the way my daughter would walk around with this thing and throw it during a tantrum. It sounds exactly the same to me. My mother is…

False Advertising in Musical Toys

This isn't the classic toy anymore! Arrived broken but I would still send it back. First, you need batteries, but the old one didn't have any. Also, there are no bulges on the records to play a song from a music box. The hand does not have the same interior. There's probably a chip inside that can tell you what record you've played. In the one I had, the music cut out and the on/off button didn't work. The music was not reduced to the old. It seems that every time the company brings back a…

Deceptively named and marketed, definitely not a classic music box.

One star because the name and advertising are misleading. It's not a turntable, it's not a classic jukebox toy, and it shows a certain level of disdain for customers to give it the look/name of the original while radically changing the experience. Mattel/FP: If you try to republish the original, *republish the original*. If you want to sell a toy built around an electronic song playing mechanism when plastic discs are chosen, sell a fake Fisher Price CD player. Buyer: If you are looking for a…

I was SO disappointed when I finally got the player out of the .

I was SO disappointed when I finally unpacked the player! I still have the ones my kids used when they were little. (They are 42 and 38 years old). All my grandkids enjoyed playing with him whenever they came. I thought it would be fun to get one for my grandson for his first birthday but what a disappointment. The on/off switch that the child moved to the right or left to turn it on or off is WRONG. My grandson was so upset when he couldn't move it. Have you noticed how intuitive kids are with

Disappointed. Don't like the classic!

I bought this toy for my grandchildren because I lost the one I had for my children. The reason I went with this was because it was marketed as a "Classic". However, this is actually only an apparent version of the original Fisher-Price turntable. The original turntable was really groovy, it had real tines playing music. This "newer" version needs batteries and the music is of very poor quality. We also found it quite confusing because not only does it require batteries, but you also have to…

This isn't the Fisher Price turntable you grew up with.

I've never had toys like this but it was always fun to visit my grandparents and play with what they left their grandchildren. There were several "tracks" on the records, and each of them was responsible for playing a note when it came to hand. In fact, it was the recordings that made the music play and caused the physical action that caused the sound to appear. Pretty clever introduction to serialized data. This is a new invention and it's even worse. There are no more correct tracks, just…
